2.5 Day Virtual Training Course: Degradation Kinetics Assessment of Laboratory and Field Studies to Obtain DegT50 Values According to FOCUS and EFSA Guidance.

This training course will feature tutorials, discussions, as well as hands-on practical exercises that demonstrate the principles and concepts of degradation kinetics assessment of active substances of plant protection products, biocides, general chemicals and their degradation products, including the practical application in EU regulatory process.

The virtual training course will include:

  • Various types of degradation kinetic models, data processing and assessment of goodness-of-fit.

  • Degradation kinetics assessment of soil and water/sediment studies to derive: (i) persistence end- points; (ii) modelling endpoints according to FOCUS and EFSA guidance using the current version of CAKE v3.5; and (iii) overall modelling endpoint from the laboratory and field soil DegT50 values according to EFSA guidance.

  • Normalization procedures for laboratory and field DegT50 /DT50 values to reference soil moisture (pF2) and temperature (20°C) conditions.

  • Derivation of field soil photolytic DegT50/DT50 values by normalization to the reference irradiance.

  • Comprehensive course notes and tutorials covering the above topics with many practical exercises and worked examples to assist all participants in the application of degradation kinetics principles, concepts and procedures as outlined in FOCUS and EFSA guidance in the EU regulatory proces

When?

Monday 24th October to Wednesday 26th October 2022.

Training Course Platform?

Microsoft Teams

Who should attend?

The course is suitable for environmental modellers, consultants, industry practitioners, regulators, environmental fate study directors as well as regulatory affairs managers involved in environmental exposure assessment and registration in the EU.

Format?

To enable all participants to get maximum benefits, the course will comprise power point presentations of the degradation kinetics concepts, principles and procedures outlined in current FOCUS and EFSA guidance as well as practical exercises, worked examples and application of the methodology in EU regulatory practice.
