Cambridge Environmental Assessments celebrates 20 years developing novel solutions to solve complex regulatory issues for clients

Twenty years ago, Cambridge Environmental Assessments (CEA) was launched as a business unit within ADAS, comprising just 2 people recruited from the agrochemical industry and supported by specialist ADAS staff. Today, CEA, sometimes known as the ‘blue newt’ company thanks to our distinctive logo, has grown into a dynamic team of >20 experts working across environmental fate and exposure, ecotoxicology, toxicology, and regulatory affairs, including the delivery of higher tier field fate and aquatic ecotoxicity studies:

Through our successful partnerships with numerous and varied clients over the past 20 years, CEA has developed state-of-the-art regulatory risk assessment methods and undertaken research to help inform policy advice and research for government agencies, advancing the regulatory world in which our commercial clients operate. We have published over 100 posters, platforms and journal articles since 2001, recently celebrating this achievement with the creation of the CEA library, allowing this body of work to be easily accessed by all interested parties.

Reflecting on CEA’s journey, Managing Director Adrian Terry noted:

Over the years it has often been necessary to develop new approaches to specific chemical risk assessment issues in the face of uncertainty in the regulatory world. Sometimes this has involved leveraging our current knowledge into a new context; sometimes it has involved developing completely new approaches. Regardless of what has been required, CEA’s inquisitive, collaborative and hardworking staff have always relished and enjoyed the challenge, working closely with forward thinking clients to explore the possible and create the impossible (where required!). Underlying this has been the understanding that stakeholders (Notifiers and Regulators alike) are all looking for the same thing: a safe use of the product…..sometimes in the hurly-burly this can be momentarily forgotten, but over the 20 years it has very often been possible to find the mutually acceptable path, and we look forward to exploring solutions to future issues.”

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our clients who have worked with us over the last 20 years and we look forward to future successful collaborations! For those of you who haven’t worked with CEA before, why not get in touch and find out how we can help you?
